Tough Love Paradigm

The first song from the new Laura Lee & The Jettes album is there and you can stream it here!

Laura Lee & the Jettes, 2025

Also known as one half of internationally renowned indie rock duo Gurr, Laura Lee steps back into the limelight, this time as chief songwriter and front woman of Laura Lee & the Jettes.

Surrounding herself with some of Berlin’s finest musicians, Lee’s new project strikes some more mature and underground tones but keeping its pop sensibilities.

Influenced, among others, by German Krautrock legends such as Neu! and Can, Lee explains: “It’s insane how influential these bands were on so many American acts while they remain still so unknown in German mainstream music.”

Laura Lee, mother and songwriter, has been making music since she was a teenager and cites acts as diverse as Oasis and Sonic Youth as important influences. In 2016 she released the album "In My Head" as part of the duo Gurr. The band conquered Great Britain and the USA from Germany and won the highly acclaimed IMPALA European Album of the Year Award. In 2021, Laura Lee & the Jettes released their album "Wasteland", which again attracted international attention, with appearances on BBC 6 Music, a session on NPR and a US tour before supporting The Beatsteaks in Germany, including two nights in in the 20,000-seater Wuhlheide Arena − while Laura was eight months pregnant.

After taking a break to focus on her role as a mother, Laura continues to be active in the music industry. She made two autobiographical documentaries, including one by Vice, and appeared at the Schauspiel Leipzig in the play "Master and Margarita", for which she was also responsible for the music together with Paul Pötsch.
